SISL Week III

SISL Week 3: Tsunami Surge Overwhelms Raccoons in High-Scoring Affair

The SISL Week 3 matchup between the Raccoons and the Tsunami was a tale of two halves—or more accurately, a tale of a red-hot start met by a relentless wave. Despite an early offensive masterclass from the Raccoons’ top star, the Tsunami found another gear in the final two periods to secure a dominant victory.

Period 1: The Tom Show vs. The Counter-Attack

The opening frame was a chaotic, back-and-forth shootout. The Raccoons’ Tom Stastny was virtually untouchable, netting a natural hat trick and adding a fourth goal before the buzzer even sounded. Supported by goals from Erik Fowlie and Paul Sanders, the Raccoons looked like they might run away with the game early.

However, the Tsunami refused to blink. Reuven sparked the life in their offense with two unassisted tallies, while Paul Gomes and Kevin Makela began to find their chemistry. By the end of the first, the Raccoons held a slim lead, but the momentum was starting to shift.

Period 2: The Tsunami Breaks Through

If the first period belonged to Stastny, the second belonged entirely to the Tsunami. They completely shut down the Raccoons’ offense, holding them scoreless for the entire frame.

The Tsunami offense, meanwhile, went on a clinical 6-0 run:

  • Reuven completed his hat trick.
  • Makela and Gomes began a scoring clinic, with Kevin picking up two goals and Paul USA completing his own hat trick.
  • Adam Simpson joined the party, capitalizing on the chaos in the Raccoons’ zone.

Period 3: Closing the Door

The Raccoons managed to snap their scoring drought in the third with a solo effort from Sanders, but it was too little, too late. The Tsunami continued to pour it on. Makela was the story of the closing minutes, finishing the game with a staggering double hat trick (6 goals)Reuven added his fourth of the night to put the finishing touches on a definitive Tsunami win.

SISL Week 3: Kryptonite Overpowers Raiders in High-Voltage Clash

The Week 3 showdown between the Raiders and Kryptonite proved to be a high-scoring affair where Kryptonite’s depth and relentless pressure eventually wore down a resilient Raiders squad. While the Raiders showed flashes of individual brilliance, they simply couldn’t keep pace with the multi-pronged attack of the Kryptonite bench.

Period 1: Punch for Punch

The game started with a flurry of action. The Raiders struck first through CJ Gamble, but Kryptonite responded immediately. Andy Xie set the tone for his massive night by netting two goals early, while Jock Paul and Rico Reay added to the tally. The Raiders stayed within striking distance thanks to unassisted markers from Brandon Vick and Bobby, but by the end of the frame, Kryptonite had carved out a multi-goal lead, punctuated by Troy’s first of the night.

Period 2: The Kryptonite Lockdown

The second period was where the game shifted decisively. Kryptonite’s defense tightened up, completely silencing the Raiders’ offense for the duration of the frame. Offensively, they stayed hot:

  • Rico Reay notched two more goals to complete his hat trick.
  • Kong found his rhythm, netting back-to-back goals to extend the lead.

By the time the buzzer sounded for the second intermission, the Raiders found themselves staring down a significant deficit with no momentum in sight.

Period 3: Jonas’ Hat Trick vs. Kryptonite’s Depth

The final period saw a resurgence from the Raiders’ Jonas, who put on a clinical display with a natural hat trick—scoring three unassisted goals in the frame. It was a valiant effort to spark a comeback, but Kryptonite had too many answers.

Sean Lee got on the board early in the third, Kong completed his hat trick, and Andy notched his fourth of the game. Troy closed out the scoring with his third goal, ensuring Kryptonite walked away with a dominant victory.
